Clinical Significance :
C3 component is the central point of classic and alternative compliment pathway. Compliment testing helps to d iagnose the cause of recurrent microbial infections, angioedema , inflammation and in acute or chronic autoimmune disease such as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus(SLE).Decreased levels of C3 are significant in autoimmune d isease, recurrent infections with pyrogenic bacteria, neonatal RDS and congenital deficiencies. C3 behaves as an acute phase protein hence increased levels may found in acute inflammatory reactions.
Intended Use :
This reagent is intended for in vitro quantitative determination of complement component C3 (C3C) in human serum by nephelometric immunoassay.
