Clinical Significance :
Complement is a group of 20 immunological ly distinct proteins present in blood and tissues. They are synthesized in liver and are present in serum as functional ly inactive molecules. C4 complement is a á-glycoprotein of 3 sub units. C4 C is a constituent of C3 convertase and C 5 convertase. Decreased levels are found in hered itary angioneuroticodema, immune complex d isease and congenital deficiencies.
Intended Use :
This reagent is intended for the in vitro quantitative determination of complement C4 (C4C) in human serum by turbidimetric immunoassay.
