Intended Use
This reagent is intended for the in vitro quantitative determination of alpha 1 acid glycoprotein in human serum by nephelometric immunoassay.
-Nephelometry methodology
-Linear up to 250 mg/dL
-Ready to use reagents
-No calibration required
-Lower detection level 10 mg/dL
Clinical Significance
Alpha 1 acid glycoprotein (AGP) or Orosomucoid (ORM) is an acute phase serum protein that is produced by the liver in response to inflammation and infection. AGP is useful in monitoring tumor recurrence. Levels are also helpful in d ifferentiating acute phase responses (elevated levels) from estrogen effects (normal or decreased levels). In addition it is an excellent protein in assessing in vivo hemolysis.
Principle
The reagents containing polyclonal goat anti-human AGP when mixed with serum sample containing AGP cause changes in absorbance, due to the development of turbidity, which is directly proportional to the concentration of AGP in the sample.
